Let me start with, I never set out to write a book. My memory isn’t what it once was, so this was my attempt to save these stories for posterity… I hope you enjoy my Tales from the Field.

This project began quietly in the spring of 2024, after nearly a decade of being a living historian and World War II reenactor. Over the years, I had heard countless stories from veterans—some funny, some harrowing, some told only once and with great reluctance.

Eventually, I realized that if I didn’t write them down, many of these stories would disappear forever. The men who lived them were fading from our world, and with them, the memories that shaped the century we inherited.
