The Unveiling

A book years in the making is finally here. I’m proud to announce the release of Tales from the Field—a collection of lived memories, hard‑earned lessons, and the quiet, powerful stories of the men and women who shaped the world long before any of us arrived on it. This book began as a simple idea: preserve the voices of those who served. Not the headlines, not the textbook summaries—the human moments. The laughter in the mud. The fear behind the bravery. The friendships that outlasted the battles. The memories that stayed long after uniforms were folded away. Over time, that idea grew into something bigger. Tales from the Field became a bridge between generations, a way to honor the people whose stories rarely make it into official histories but deserve to be remembered all the same. What Readers Will Find Inside The book blends: Firsthand accounts from veterans, reenactors, and civilians Personal reflections from years spent as a living historian and educator Snapshots of service,...

What Reenacting Gets Right, and What It Can’t

Ten years in wool. What it taught me, what it never could, and why the veterans started talking.

Hello to my readers!

Let me start with, I never set out to write a book. My memory isn’t what it once was, so this was my attempt to save these stories for posterity… I hope you enjoy my Tales from the Field. This project began quietly in the spring of 2024, after nearly a decade of being a living historian and World War II reenactor. Over the years, I had heard countless stories from veterans—some funny, some harrowing, some told only once and with great reluctance. Eventually, I realized that if I didn’t write them down, many of these stories would disappear forever. The men who lived them were fading from our world, and with them, the memories that shaped the century we inherited.

Meet the  Author

T.E. Moeller

T.E. Moeller is a living historian and educator who has spent more than a decade preserving the stories of America’s World War II generation. As Commanding Officer of Baker Company, 5th Ranger Infantry Battalion (Reenacted), he has guided young men through the discipline, history, and responsibility of honoring the soldiers of the European Theater.

His work in living history has taken him to major national events, including D‑Day Conneaut and programs at the National World War II Museum and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Through conversations with veterans, hands‑on interpretation, and years of field experience, he has helped bring the stories of ordinary servicemen to new audiences.

It is what we choose to remember.
